There have been reports that opposition supporters are planning to assemble on Freedom Square on Thursday 24 April at 3pm prior to visiting the Tsitsernakaberd Genocide Memorial. There have also been reports of plans for ongoing demonstrations between 2-3pm on Fridays outside the Office of the Public Prosecutor.
In the context of the current period of heightened political tension, we advise British citizens to avoid the area of known demonstrations, large gatherings of people and other locations where demonstrations may take place.

Better World, Better Britain
The Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, and the Permanent Under Secretary, Peter Ricketts, today welcomed to the FCO representatives from the wider community, including non-governmental organisations, business leaders, faith groups and academics, for a presentation and discussion on the FCO's new Strategic Framework and mission statement.
From climate change and financial instability to health pandemics and weapons proliferation, national security and prosperity depend on our work with other nations. Global progress will help Britain change for the better; and Britain has the resources across Government, business and the voluntary sector to make a real difference.

Graduate Scholarships at LSE
The London School of Economics and Political Science, the world's leading dedicated social science institution, has launched 11 new graduate programmes for 2008 entry. These include a two year MSc in Management, a one year MSc in Finance and a double degree with Columbia University in International and World History. Full details of these and LSE's 140 different graduate programmes, together with information on how to apply, can be found at www.lse.ac.uk
The School has a generous package of scholarships available for students from Armenia.

British Embassy Yerevan announces introduction of new visa application forms
With effect from 29 October 2007, all visa applicants applying for a visa/entry clearance to the United Kingdom should apply using the new application forms. These forms will be available free of charge from the British Embassy, local Visa Application Centres and from the UKvisas’ website.

Changes to passport rules for young people
The Home Office Minister has announced the following changes to passport rules for young people regarding passport applications made in the UK.: 16 and 17 year olds will no longer require parental consent to apply for a passport, 16 and 17 year olds will no longer require parental consent for name changes to be reflected on a passport, Passport renewals submitted to the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) for children aged 11 or under will all now require a countersignatory.

New Blogging Platform for the FCO
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office today launched a new blogging platform to provide a place for Ministers and officials to engage in a dialogue with the public about international affairs and the work of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
To begin with, there will be six bloggers including the Foreign Secretary, David Miliband and Europe Minister, Jim Murphy, as well as staff from throughout the organisation. The FCO has also launched a new YouTube video channel and a Flickr photo account.
