ABOUT US/OUR ROLE
The British Embassy opened in Georgia in October 1995 and both countries celebrated ten years of diplomatic relations in 2002. To mark the event a photo exhibition at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held on 1 November 2002. But 10 years only symbolically describe the length of time that modern relations between the UK and Georgia have been in existence. British-Georgian relations have much deeper roots going back to the start of the 19th century, a century associated with Sir Oliver and Marjory Wardrop. The Wardrops have come to personify Georgian/British relations.  

Georgia is making its transition from being a Former Soviet republic to becoming a free market and democratic country and the UK is at the forefront of political and moral support to this important process as Georgia integrates into Euro-Atlantic structures and practices. , more...
